How to make a successful country

There are about 195 countries around the globe; among these countries there is only one super country. Nevertheless, there are also many successful countries besides the super one as well. Those successful countries, their leaders use different variety of successful systems to develop their countries.  The country can be success or failure is depended on its leader or the government. Once the citizen in each country vote for their leaders, it means that they hope that their leaders is a reliable person to manage or develop all parts of the country such as education, economy, diet, and so on in order to make the country becomes successful. If there is a chance for me to become a leader of a country, I would make my country to become a successful country by develop three main fundamental systems in my country: infrastructure, economy, and education or human resource.
It is crucial for every country to have a good infrastructure. How successful a country is partly can be evaluated by the infrastructure in that country. For example, USA is one of the successful countries around the world and the infrastructure in this country is very modern. Gilberto writes “Inefficient infrastructure creates a bottleneck and impediment to trade and growth” (Gilberto, internet). From this statement, we can infer that the development of infrastructure in one’s country also relevance with the development of one’s country economy. Due to this reason, in order to develop my country to become a successful country, I will develop my country’s infrastructure to be very modern like building more schools, hospitals, bridges, dams and many other infrastructure buildings.
There are a number of countries with high economy status around the globe become a successful country. Consequently, if   I want to make my country to become successful, I will also develop my country to have a high potential of economy status in order to promote my country to be a successful country too. Economic is very important to each country as it is like the sole of the life of one country. If the economic in one country is rise up, there is no finance problems in that country; on the other hand, if there is an economic crisis in one country, there will be a lot of problems which cause by finance such as plenty of businesses will be shut down and this could led to the increasing the amount of unemployment in that country as well. Based from CNN, it is clear the financial crisis has left deep scars (Nin-hai, 2010, internet). Some countries become failure because of economic crisis and it is hard for them to restore their potential again. The development of industry is the main fundamental for the economic in one’s country to be rise up. In order to develop the industry in one country, there should be enough human resources and the tax of the production, import and export should be very low. For the human resources, I will describe in the third points. There will be more and more investments in my country if the tax in my country is very low compared to other countries. Those investments give my country two main benefits: the employment and the income of the tax from the production, import and export. As a result, the numbers of unemployment in my will be very low and this makes my country’s economic rise up as well.
Beside economy, education is another main fundamental to make the country become successful. Education is one of the most powerful ways to reduce poverty and inequality, and to pave the way for sustained economic growth ("Why does literacy," 2008). It is crucial to evaluate the importance of education, since intelligent people with knowledge and understanding are the basic of a successful country ("What should a," 2009, internet).  In this way, if most people in my country have high quality of education, my country will not face with many difficulties in keeping its survival and sustain ability. In contrast, if the quality of education for most of my citizen is low, my country will not have enough strength and potency to withstand all challenges, develop and advance itself. I will improve the education system in my country by mainly invest into the youth. I will build a lot of schools and provide enough sources for the students to study such as create many national libraries, club studies, computer labs, and many other study places. The students will spend a lot of more times to find the sources for their works if there is not enough or less sources that relevance to their works and some might even give up their works, as it is hard for them to find the sources. As long as there are many study and source places available for the students, this will help facilitate their studying process. Furthermore, I will also inspire the students to study hard by providing many scholarships for the outstanding students in my country. This not only led them to study hard, but we could also show our admiration for their efforts in studying.  Besides, the school fee in my country will be free. Many successful countries around the globe usually provide their students a free school fee. Hence, I will follow this system too as I could see that it could lure more students to go to school. In this respect, there are a lot of poor students around the globe that do not attend at school or continue their studying after diploma graduated because they do not have enough money to go to school or their parents might think that it is useless for them to spend money for their children’s education; they could use those money to do something else that beneficial for them rather than sending their children to school. As I provide them a free school fee includes with many opportunities to get the scholarships for the outstanding students, this will give no pressure for the poor family to send their children to school. Therefore, there will be more and more children come to school and the number of illiteracy in my country will be very low in the future that give a high chance for my country to be a successful country. As a matter of fact, we could see that most country that have a lot of illiteracy is rarely become a successful country. I try to develop the education system in my country for the purpose to maintain human resource with high quality of education. Not only build a lot of school is enough to improve education, education also needs good instructors too.
In conclusion, the development of education and economy are the basic of the successful country as it plays an important role in the developing of one country. There are many successful countries around the world that get success by developing these three fundamental systems in a country. Thus, it is a good idea for the leaders nowadays to follow this idea because it is such a great potential way to make their countries to become successful and stay sustainable for the future. In my opinion, these three systems are the fundamental to develop my country to become a successful country, even though there are still other ways to make a country to become a successful as well.

Foreign cultures destroy Khmer culture!!!

It is hard for a country to forbid some of other foreign cultures to flow into their countries and makes some changes to those countries. Some of the countries satisfied with the foreign cultures to flow into their countries while others are vice versa. Similarly to Cambodia, foreign cultures have been long known to have spread to Cambodia since ancient times. There are a lot of arguments about the flowing of foreign cultures into this country that whether it develop or destroy Khmer culture. Although some Cambodians support foreign cultures to flow into Cambodia, there are still so many Cambodians oppose with this idea as there are many problems created in Cambodia nowadays by those foreign cultures.
Opponents claim that foreign cultures have improved Cambodia’s infrastructure. In this way, Cambodia’s traditional style of construction is not modern like other Europe countries at all. Therefore, Cambodia needs to follow some of other foreign cultures’ construction style and try to make or change it to become suitable with Khmer custom in order to make it becomes modern and suit with Cambodians interest. Supporters suggest that Cambodia need to have their own unique of construction style. If we just follow other foreign construction’s style and just a little bit of changes or sometimes no changes, there will be no identity of Cambodia’s achievement of construction style recognize by the world at all in the future. According to Son Souberg and Suong Leang Hay, there are lesser and lesser hotels and restaurants in Cambodia have a Khmer character ("Case study on," 1995, internet). Many of the developed countries used to have a very good infrastructure. It is essential for a country to have a good infrastructure as it can help to develop a country. EuropeAid wrote “Good quality infrastructure is a key ingredient for sustainable development” ("Infrastructure for sustainable," 2011, internet). Similarly, Cambodia traditional infrastructure is not modern and very good at all as nowadays. Most of Cambodia’s infrastructure buildings nowadays are built by mixing of Khmer and foreign construction style.
Opponents also point out that some foreign customs is easier to follow rather than Khmer custom. In this respect, Khmer traditional custom is very strict and hard to follow which is not much satisfied with many of Cambodians in this century at all because people in this century like to have their own freedom. Therefore, they think that Khmer traditional custom should makes some changes and not to be very strict. In contrary, supporters argue that it is not appropriate to mix other foreign customs with Khmer customs that it would messing up or destroy the whole Cambodia’s custom in the future. For example, the dressing in some of other countries, especially Europe, they like to wear sexy clothing while Cambodia traditional clothing custom is not allowed to reveal the body. We could see that many of Cambodians nowadays do not used to wear their traditional clothing anymore as they prefer foreign clothing rather than their own. According to Cambodia fashion, “The tradition of daily wear faded away with the commencement of the twentieth century” ("Cambodian fashion," 2011, internet). In the future, their traditional clothing will be mostly eliminated. This show that Cambodia’s traditional custom would be in danger as it could be eliminated at any time in the future if they still allow foreign culture to flow into their country without any strictness that can destroy their culture.
The final argument made by opponents is that foreign cultures can build a strong relationship for Cambodia with other countries. In this respect, it is easier to communicate or get along with other countries if we share the same or some similarities between cultures. The countries that have a unique culture from other countries usually meet with some popular problems like there are sometimes discriminants happen over this nation by the majorities. Therefore, Cambodia should allow other foreign culture to flow into their country as Cambodia traditional culture is unique with other foreign countries. However, supporters oppose with this point by saying that Cambodia traditional culture is very good that recognize by the world. There are no appropriate evidence that shows Cambodia traditional culture do not have a good relationship with many other foreign countries nor there is also no discrimination over Cambodia at that time.
In conclusion, foreign cultures absolutely have made some changes to Cambodia traditional culture. There are some pros and cons for the flowing of foreign cultures into Cambodia. Otherwise, I think that foreign culture do not do any good to Cambodia culture at all as I could see Cambodia many centuries ago is a very developed countries but by the incoming of foreign cultures have destroy or messing up the whole country culture. Furthermore, there is a far gap between parents and children in Cambodia nowadays as the parents are likely to follow Khmer traditional culture while their children follow most of foreign culture.

The role of news in my life and society as a whole

Millions of people around the world are following the news every day and the numbers of people increase annually as more and more people start to learn about the beneficial of the news. There are many ways that people can expose to the news such as by newspapers, magazines, websites, radio, television and journals. The news keeps people up to date with the present situation around the world by providing more general knowledge and information about the events that are occurring every day around the world. Personally, I also like to follow the news every day as well since I find it is really useful and interesting for me to follow the news.
As I have noted, the news nowadays is usually mainly focus about the events that is happening now around the world, especially the bad ones.  From this view, I learnt that many people around the world now are curious to receive information about what is happening now around the world, both domestic and international. Without news, people would feel that they are just like the frog in the well. In this way, it would be hard for people to receive information about something which is far from them and the information could not spread widely without news. Moreover, the news can spread important information effectively to everyone like serious issues that is happening now in the world which need intervention by international force. For example, the news is putting concern about Iran’s nuclear program recently. I could see that most of the news is focus mainly about this issue.  It will be hard to forbid Iran from nuclear program if there are only a few countries petting concern about this issue. By using the power of the news, the world can quickly receive the information about this issue and most of the countries around the world now putting concern about this issue as a whole. It shows to me that the news can spread the information to everyone very fast and can get a lot of attention from people. People will pay less attention about some serious issues if the news does not exist as they could not reach to the information or there is not enough power to take control over those serious issues as the news can gather a lot of people’s attention around the world. Educated people are likely to follow the news rather than other people. When I have entered my university study, I am surprised that educated people are more likely to follow the news rather than uneducated people. I started to notice like this since I could see most of the instructors at my university are following the news every day and they often urge me and other students to follow the news too in order to wider our knowledge and the information that we get from the news will be useful for us in the future, for both study and work.
As a consequence, the news plays an important role in my life and also the society. Without the news, people will hardly to get the information very fast and they will live in a small society by not knowing about what is happing now in the other parts of the world. Coincidently, the news is really useful for the students as it can use as the references for their study and maybe for their careers in the future as well. Due to all these reasons, I highly recommend everybody to follow the news every day.

Capital Punishment: A neccessary deterrent or Uncivilized evil

No one in the world is perfect, they usually done something wrongs during their lives time. The mistakes that people commit are different from one to another and the weights of their faults are varied. Some people commit some serious mistakes that the world or law cannot forgive them, so they would likely to get capital punishment. In general words, capital punishment is the death penalty. The law in some countries such as Cambodia, do not have capital punishment law at all due to the number of its citizens are very low which caused by the Khmer Rouge that has killed millions of its nonsense citizens already in the past. Otherwise, most of the countries around the world still have capital punishment law. There are many arguments about whether the capital punishment is a necessary deterrent or an uncivilized evil. In my opinion, capital punishment is a necessary deterrent.
To begin with the idea that capital punishment is a necessary deterrent. Firstly, capital punishment could help residents to live in safer communities. In this way, we need extreme penalty in order to make people aware of committing crimes. According to George, the death penalty helped produced a dramatic drop in violent crime within one year in New York after the release of the death penalty law (George, 1997). Secondly, it is unfair to the victims who death by murder. The assailants should paid what they have done back. Everybody on the earth wants to live, but they have killed others; hence, they should pay their lives back in a return to their commitments. In my view, life or 15 years imprisonment is also not fair enough to the murderers; only capital punishment can give a fair justice to the victims. Thirdly, death penalties can save lives. In this respect, we can avoid from repeated murders and foreseeable murders are deterred. People are feared to death more than life imprisonment in the commonsense notion of people (Stephen, 2002). I have realized that most of the convicted murderers usually seek to avoid execution by appealing to reduce their sentence to life imprisonment. This shows that the capital punishment is feared more than life imprisonment and it seems that it works effectively to reduce the number of crimes than life imprisonment; even though, we cannot prove conclusively that the death penalty deters murder. As a result, capital punishment does deter people due to all of these reasons.
Moving onto the idea that capital punishment is an uncivilized evil. There are some people said that some of the murderers are unplanned and impulsive. In this respect, some of the criminals commit a crime without thinking further punishment because of their anger or emotional sense. It is hard to maintain human’s feeling. I have noticed myself and many of my teenager friends too; it is really hard us to control ours feeling. Mostly, teenagers are easily to get the effect by their emotional rather any other ages. However, we should control our emotion wisely in order to act as a human. Remove our anger or other emotions by violence are not a good deal at all. I think that there is only a small portion of murderers that committed crime by unplanned and impulsive. Dan wrote, “Very few people would seek out an opportunity to kill others” (Dan, 2011). As a consequence, the idea that murderers are unplanned and impulsive is unlike to acceptable for me. There is also another idea that against capital punishment is that we cannot bring the victims back, so we do not really need to kill more people. This idea is getting support by some religious as well.  In some religious, it advices its followers not to take revenge. As I have mentioned above, people should paid back what they have done and it is seem unfair to the victims as the murderers could not get executed. Consequently, I strongly disagree with the opponents’ ideas as murderers are unplanned and impulsive or we should not take revenge.
In conclusion, capital punishment is a necessary deterrent for me due to the reason that it facilitates people to live in a safer condition, bring justice to the victims, and save lives. Additionally, death penalty is feared people more than life imprisonment which could lead into the reducing in criminal. Although, I agree with the opponents claim that the court sometimes commit mistakes to give innocence people the death penalty, but the mistakes are very minimize that could lead to wrong judgments. Thus, the court should investigate carefully before making the decision to give someone the capital punishment in order to avoid punish innocence people or the faults are not appropriate to get capital punishment.
